It is not proposed to introduce a special provision in the higher education grants scheme for the award of supplementary grants to married students.

I am not satisfied that an amendment as suggested of the procedures for the determination of eligibility for the purpose of higher education grants scheme is called for or that it would administratively be more satisfactory than the present arrangement. I do not, accordingly, propose making any such amendment to the relevant regulations.
