Vol. 278 No. 6

Ceisteanna-Questions. Oral Answers. - Offaly School Floor.

83.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will accede to the requests of the Daingean Parent-Teacher Association to have a floor laid in the new general purposes room being provided by way of addition to Daingean national school. County Offaly, similar to the floors in the existing classrooms; if the central heating pipes will be laid under that floor; and if extra power points will be provided in the room.

Mr. Kenny

The floor surface, heating pipes and power points being provided in this room are in accordance with present standard practice. The work is at a very advanced stage and the changes requested would involve additional expenditure of the order of £1,000. I am having the matter further investigated in consultation with the Department of Education but I find it difficult to see how the charge on State funds of the extra cost could be justified.
