Vol. 279 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Agricultural Advisers.

12.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries why agricultural advisers will not be allowed to sit on committees of agriculture.

There is a statutory prohibition on an agricultural instructor being a member of the committee of agriculture by which he is employed or of that for an adjoining county. This is in accordance with long-standing practice in relation to holders of comparable offices under local authorities and I do not see any good reason why it should be altered.
