Vol. 279 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Ministerial Australian Trip.

37.

asked the Minister for Labour why he did not complete on schedule his full official trip to Australia.

On advice from officials of my Department relating to a serious industrial dispute situation in Dublin, I decided to return home earlier than originally planned.

My hosts, the Australian Government, were informed to this effect and understood the circumstances.

Had the Minister's lost week-end in Bangkok anything to do with it?

I do not get the point of the Deputy's question.

I have asked whether the Minister's lost week-end in Bangkok had anything to do with his failure to keep his schedule.

Could the Minister tell us the length of time he spent in Bangkok?

That was explained in previous questions of which there have been six. The night I left Bangkok was the very night the Leader of the Opposition and Deputy O'Malley arrived there.

May I repeat the question? Can the Minister tell us how long he spent in Bangkok? He cannot remember.
