Vol. 279 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - General Medical Services Doctors.

10.

asked the Minister for Health if he is satisfied that the present agreement concerning excluded doctors in the general medical services is a solution to the problem.

Detailed discussions have taken place with the medical organisations on the right of entry question. Following those discussions, a draft document was issued to the organisations on 27th November outlining modifications in the method of entry and further amendments to the document have now been agreed with the organisations' representatives. I hope to be in a position soon to ask health boards to implement the agreed revised arrangements for the entry of doctors into the scheme. I am satisfied that the agreement reached with the organisations is a reasonable solution to the problems which had arisen.
