Vol. 279 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Widow's Pension.

21.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare why a widow's pension has not been granted to a person (name supplied) in County Offaly who applied last October.

The widow's non-contributory pension in payment to the person named by the Deputy was terminated on the grounds of means in October, 1969. A fresh application for pension was made by her on the 4th November, 1974, and was sent to my Department's local officer for a report as to the applicant's means. Completion of the officer's report has been delayed awaiting receipt of information from the widow concerning the sale of land and disposal of a substantial amount of capital. When the required information is received the claim will be decided without delay.
