asked the Minister for Local Government the position in regard to the provision of a much needed sewerage scheme at Newtown-shandrum, County Cork.

The Cork County Council have been requested by my Department to supply further technical data to enable the scheme to be assessed. This information is awaited.

Will the Minister state on what date the county council were requested to supply the information?

This correspondence has been going on since 20th November, 1972. The county council were requested in January, 1973, to submit further data, including the results of ganging and an up-to-date analysis of the stream quality. This information was asked for two years ago—in January, 1973.

asked the Minister for Local Government when he will be in a position to sanction proposals for major extensions to Charleville sewerage scheme, County Cork.

I have approved in principle of this proposal. The further planning of the scheme is a matter for the local authority.
