Vol. 279 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Abortion Statistics.

4.

asked the Taoiseach the number of Irish women who went to England for abortions in each year since abortion was legalised in England; and if, in respect of this number, he will indicate the number of (a) single women, (b) married women and (c) the different age groups.

Data of the type requested by the Deputy are not compiled in this country. However, certain information derived from the administrative records of the Department of Health and Social Security in Britain has been published in an article in the issue of March 22nd, 1975 of the Journal of the Irish Medical Association to which I would refer the Deputy.
