Ireland was not represented at the conference held in Geneva in April, 1974 by the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) which adopted a Convention on a Code of Conduct for Liner Conferences.
No decision has yet been taken about the ratification of the convention by this country.
The Government, in conformity with their obligations as a member of the Inter-Governmental Maritime Consultative Organisation (IMCO) and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), are opposed in principle to flags of convenience.
