Vol. 279 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Hill Farming Scheme.

27.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries if he is aware of anxiety and concern among certain small farmers in County Waterford who are unable to ascertain whether they come within the ambit of the hill farming scheme by reason of the fact that the district electoral areas in which they reside have been designated in part only; and if he will indicate the precise areas in such district electoral areas which will qualify for the scheme.

In the case of County Waterford and other areas outside the western region the intention is that the EEC directive will apply to those zones which come under the mountain lamb subsidy scheme. The zones involved in County Waterford were indicated in my reply to the Deputy on 20th March. Farmers in these zones will of course themselves know whether or not they have previously qualified for payments under the mountain lamb scheme.
