Vol. 279 No. 11

Written Answers. - Gormanston Camp Maintenance Staff.

131.

asked the Minister for Defence if he will withdraw the notices to the ten men being let go on 15th April, 1975, at Gormanston Camp in view of the fact that there are nine or ten urgent maintenance jobs which require to be done on NCO and officer living quarters and which have been sanctioned.

The ten men referred to by the Deputy were employed by the Corps of Engineers in January last for a special job which has now been completed. They were additional to the normal maintenance staff. As there are no other new or special works to be undertaken at the camp at present I regret that it was found necessary to dispense with the services of the ten men in question on the 15th April.
