Vol. 279 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Gas Price.

21.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if the Dublin Gas Company have applied for an increase in the price of gas to the consumer; if the application is for phased increases; if so, the amount of each increase sought; whether the application differentiates between (a) day and night usage (b) industrial and (c) domestic usage; and, if so, the percentage increase applied for in each case.

There is no application in my Department by the Dublin Gas Company to increase the price of gas.

Does the Parliamentary Secretary know if the increases applied for are phased over a period?

That would not apply because no increases have been applied for.

When the applications come in for price increases are they in the form of phased increases or are they for a single increase?

There is no application before us at the moment. The increases so far that were granted were in the case of an increase on the 4th April last year on the basis of a single price per therm, on the 20th June an increase in range from one price to another was given and then on the 15th November there was a price increase based on a single price per therm.

Where they divided into domestic and commercial use?

No, there is no differentiation.
