Vol. 280 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Phoenix Park, Dublin.

8.

asked the Minister for Finance why money accruing to the Phoenix Park, Dublin, from cattle grazing, and so on, is paid directly to the Department of Finance and not into the Office of Public Works, Parks Section, for the further development of the national parks.

Mr. Kenny

Moneys accruing from cattle grazing in the Phoenix Park are paid to the Commissioners of Public Works and brought to account as appropriations in aid of the Vote for Public Works and Buildings.

9.

asked the Minister for Finance if all the supervisory posts which were vacant some time ago in the Phoenix Park, Dublin have now been filled; and, if not, why.

10.

asked the Minister for Finance if the position of head gardener in the Phoenix Park, Dublin has yet been filled.

Mr. Kenny

I propose with the permission of the Ceann Comhairle to take Questions Nos. 9 and 10 together.

The post of head gardener has not yet been filled but it is hoped to advertise it at an early date in conjunction with two new supervisory posts recently created. A new post of zoologist has also been created to serve all national parks; this latter post has been advertised by the Civil Service Commissioners and it is hoped to fill it shortly. There are no other vacancies of a supervisory nature to be filled.

Arising out of this reorganisation of the supervisory structure, the former post of assistant superintendent has been suppressed.
