Vol. 280 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dublin Sub-post Office.

51.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if, in view of the increased number of families that have now moved or are about to move into the Limerick Farm estates and Greenpark estate, Walkinstown, Dublin, he will now consider providing a new sub-post office at the shopping centre, St. James Road, Limekiln Farm.

Mr. R. Burke

As the nearest post offices, at Walkinstown and Perrys-town, are both only about ¾ mile away, the provision of a sub-post office at the shopping centre in question would not be warranted. The case for an additional sub-post office in the area generally is being kept under regular review but housing development has not yet reached the stage where its establishment would be warranted.

In reply to a previous question I was informed that the matter was being kept under review. Recently 100 houses were occupied in this area and I feel this warrants an additional sub-post office. Will the Minister again examine the situation.

Mr. R. Burke

I take the Deputy's point but the matter is being kept under regular review.
