The only information available to the Central Statistics Office in respect of changes in building costs is that provided by the monthly Wholesale Price Index series. The index for "Building and Construction", which combines materials and wages, rose by 58 per cent between May, 1973 and March, 1975.
The Wholesale Price Index is published in the quarterly Irish Statistical Bulletin and the qualifications made in respect of its weighting and coverage should be noted.
