Vol. 280 No. 7

Written Answers. - County Cork Social Welfare Applications.

243.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he will arrange for payment of a non-contributory old age pension to a person (name supplied) in County Cork.

The person concerned claimed a non-contributory old age pension on 27th January, 1975, and a pension order book at the full rate of £7.30 a week from 31st January, 1975, together with a supplementary book at a rate of £1.55 a week—the increase under the Social Welfare Act, 1975—from 4th April, 1975, issued on 7th April, 1975. The delay was due to the difficulty experienced by the social welfare officer in locating the claimant who left no forwarding address when he left the address given on his claim.

244.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he will arrange for payment after 2nd May, 1975, of the full appropriate allowance to an old age pensioner (name supplied) in County Cork in respect of his two children aged 13 and 15 years.

The pension order books for £4.70 a week payable from 9th May, 1975, in respect of the two children in question were issued on 28th April, 1975.

245.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he will arrange for payment of unemployment benefit to a person (name supplied) in County Cork.

The entitlement of the person concerned to unemployment benefit depends among other things on certain contributions paid during the year 1973 and in respect of which there is doubt as to whether they were paid in respect of employment which is insurable under the Social Welfare Acts. Inquiries necessary to establish the admissibility or otherwise of the contributions have not yet been completed, but every effort is being made to have the matter brought to an early conclusion. Pending a decision on his claim for unemployment benefit, his possible entitlement to unemployment assistance is being examined.
