Vol. 280 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dingle Harbour Development.

13.

asked the Minister for Finance if any advance has been made regarding the development of Dingle harbour, County Kerry, since March, 1973.

Mr. Kenny

Since March, 1973, the improvement scheme which the Commissioners of Public Works were then carrying out on behalf of Roinn na Gaeltachta has been completed.

Would the Parliamentary Secretary agree with me were I to suggest that in fact all that has been done by the present Administration was to carry out the first stage of that development and there still remain rock bars and so on that have to be dealt with?

Mr. Kenny

A scheme consisting of dredging the navigation channel and improvement of the pier itself at Dingle, carried out on behalf of Roinn na Gaeltachta, was completed a few months ago, in February, 1975.

Is there a second stage to remove the rock bars?

Mr. Kenny

The Department of Agriculture and Fisheries have received requests for further dredging. At this stage it is not known whether or not they will materialise.
