Vol. 281 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Education Facilities.

4.

asked the Minister for Education the up-to-date position regarding his Department's plans for education at post-primary schools in (a) Tulla (b) Killaloe and (c) Scariff, County Clare.

Mr. R. Burke

Sanction in principle has been given by my Department for the erection of permanent buildings at Scariff Vocational School to replace profabricated buildings. It has also been agreed to examine the accommodation situation in the Tulla school having regard to the area's potential school enrolment, etc., and this matter is at present under consideration. No particular action appears to be required at present in relation to educational facilities in Killaloe.

That is satisfactory.

5.

asked the Minister for Education if he will outline his immediate and long-term proposals for the provision of adequate post-primary education facilities in South County Dublin.

Mr. R. Burke

It is proposed to cater for the immediate post-primary needs of this area by the provision of schools in Ballyroan, Lucan, Cabinteely, Old Bawn and Springfield districts.

In the longer term schools will be provided in the Balally-Sandyford and the Holylands and Rathfarnham areas, as well as at least seven additional schools in the Tallaght area. Building in each case will be timed to coincide with the accommodation requirements for the increased potential enrolments.
