asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries the amount of money expended on land drainage schemes over each of the past ten years.
Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Land Drainage Schemes.
It is assumed that the Deputy's question relates to land drainage works carried out by farmers with the aid of grants under section A of the land project.
As the reply is in the form of a tabular statement I propose, with the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, to have it circulated with the Official Report.
Following is the statement:

NOTE: Works under Section A of the Land Project include scrub and rock removal, levelling of ground, removal of unnecessary fences etc., in addition to land drainage operations. The available statistics relate to total expenditure under all these headings and separate figures are not available for land drainage works only. It is considered that some 75 to 80 per cent of the above expenditure relates to land drainage.
