Vol. 281 No. 12

Written Answers. - County Cork Unemployment Assistance.

249.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he will now arrange for the payment of unemployment assistance to a person (name supplied) in County Cork.

The person concerned claimed unemployment benefit on 10th March, 1975, but the claim was disallowed on the ground of insufficiency of employment contributions paid or credited during the 1973 contribution year. He does, however, satisfy the relevant condition from 2nd June, 1975, i.e. the commencement of the current benefit year for men as his contribution record in the 1974 year is the one now to be taken into account. His application for unemployment benefit is being reviewed accordingly.

Following the disallowance of his benefit claim the person concerned applied for a qualification certificate for unemployment assistance purposes on 9th April, 1975. The social welfare officer investigating the application called to the applicant's home on three different dates, viz., 7th and 27th May and 6th June, 1975, but has so far failed to see him. A further visit will be arranged as soon as possible.
