asked the Minister for Health the number of home helps employed at March, 1974 and March, 1975; and the number of beneficiaries as between families, aged persons and others.

On 31st March, 1974, 56 whole-time and 2,988 part-time home helps were employed by health boards (or by voluntary agencies subsidised by health boards). Beneficiaries included 303 families, 2,924 aged persons and 452 others (mainly chronically ill, mentally retarded, blind, and ex-hospital cases).

On 31st December (the latest date for which figures are available) 97 whole-time and 4,627 part-time home helps were employed. Beneficiaries included 305 families, 4,675 aged persons and 573 others.
