Vol. 282 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Speed Limit Enforcement.

47.

asked the Minister for Justice the numbers of prosecutions taken during the past 12 months in respect of contraventions of the speed limit regulations at Wainsfort Road, Terenure, Dublin.

48.

asked the Minister for Justice if, in view of the heavy increase in traffic on the Wainsfort Road, Terenure, Dublin, he will indicate the steps he proposes to take to enforce the speed limit regulations in this area.

(Cavan): With the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, I propose to take Questions Nos. 47 and 48 together.

Complaints have been made to the Garda alleging that there is speeding on this road but, despite the fact that special attention has been given to it by gardaí on traffic control duty, only three detections, each of which resulted in a prosecution for breach of the speed limit, were made during the 12 months ended 31st May, 1975. The Garda consider that the width and surface of the road are not conducive to fast driving but they will continue to give attention to traffic there.
