Vol. 282 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Malahide (Dublin) Gardaí.

5.

asked the Minister for Justice if he has any plans for an increase in the number of gardaí stationed in Malahide, County Dublin.

The survey of the police needs of the Malahide/Portmarnock/Baldoyle areas which I mentioned on 20th February last in reply to a question by the Deputy has not yet been completed by the Garda Research and Planning Unit. Most of the ground work has been done and it is expected that the unit's report will be available in a month or so. The Commissioner will then have to evaluate the report. If, at that stage, he makes recommendations to me in regard to the arrangements for policing the area I shall, of course, consider them.
