asked the Minister for Lands if, in respect of each electoral area of County Waterford, the Land Commission are in the process of acquiring holdings; if so, if he will state (a) the name (b) the location and (c) the area of each holding; and if he will indicate when the holdings will be finally in the possession of the Land Commission.

Cavan): Particulars of properties in County Waterford at present the subject of compulsory acquisition proceedings are set out in the following table. It is not possible to indicate what the outcome of these proceedings will be.

In addition to the cases listed the Land Commission have dealings for the voluntary purchase of three further properties comprising 185 acres.

asked the Minister for Lands the extent of congestion in respect of each electoral area of County Waterford; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Cavan): Congestion assessments are made in the course of the continuing work of land settlement by the Land Commission but are limited to availability of land and relate to the acquisition and division of particular properties that come before them.

General data is not on record but the Deputy may find some helpful information in Table 64 of the Statistical Abstract of Ireland for 1970-71, compiled by the Central Statistics Office, which gives the number of agricultural holdings exceeding one acre classified by size in each county and province at June, 1970.
