Vol. 282 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Meath Unemployment Benefit Applicant.

15.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare when unemployment benefit will be paid to a person (name supplied) in County Meath who is married with two children and who has been signing at the employment exchange since 3rd April, 1975 without receiving any benefit or communication from his Department.

All unemployment benefit due to the person concerned was paid on 20th June, 1975 and weekly payments will continue to be made as and when due. The person's entitlement to pay-related benefit has not yet been established due to the claimant's failure to furnish his income tax number, although he has been requested to do so.

Why did it take so long to deal with this case? It was only when the question was put down that it was dealt with.

Frankly, I am not satisfied that the case was dealt with as speedily as it should have been, and I am making further inquiries.

He is a married man with two children and he was in a bad way.

I am sorry about that.
