Vol. 282 No. 8

Written Answers. - County Donegal Bread Dumping.

321.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he is aware that large bakery combines in Northern Ireland are bringing bread into County Donegal to the detriment of small local bakeries and that this amounts to a dumping situation; and if he will indicate the steps he proposes to take in the matter.

I am not aware that the volume of bread imported from Northern Ireland is sufficient to cause material injury to bakeries in this State. This matter has been discussed with representatives of the bakery industry, who are aware of the action which should be taken by them in the event of their being in a position to provide evidence of unfair competition from imported products.
