Vol. 283 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - O'Connell Bicentenary.

1.

asked the Taoiseach the proposals of the Government to commemorate the bicentenary of the birth of Daniel O'Connell.

Arrangements are being made for the official opening, by the President, of Derrynane National Park on the 6th August, the bicentenary of the birth of Daniel O'Connell. The Cultural Relations Committee have commissioned a number of studies of O'Connell which will be published as a collection of essays before the end of the year. The National Museum is arranging an O'Connell Exhibition.

It is nice to see the Opposition taking an interest in Daniel O'Connell.
