asked the Minister for Social Welfare the estimated expenditure on home assistance of each local authority for the current year.

242.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare the amounts paid by each local authority to home assistance recipients in the last year for which accounts are available.

With the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, I propose to take Questions Nos. 241 and 242 together.

Information on the estimated expenditure on home assistance for each local authority in the current year is not yet available in my Department. However, all public assistance authorities have been requested to supply the required figures. When the information has been received I will have it conveyed to the Deputy.

The amounts paid by each public assistance authority to home assistance recipients in the last year for which accounts are available, that is, the financial years 1st April, 1974 to 31st December, 1974 (nine months) are as follows:
