Vol. 283 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Galway City Postal Services.

45.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he is aware of the difficulties experienced by residents in Galway city as a result of the poor postal services (details supplied) prevailing in the city over the past ten months; and the action he proposes to take to rectify the situation.

I am not aware of general difficulties of the kinds detailed, apart from some cases of misdelivery, which are arising chiefly because of inadequate house designation. Galway Corporation, with which my Department are co-operat-ing closely, are engaged on a programme of rationalisation of house numbering, etc. which should eliminate this problem. If details are supplied of specific cases of mistreatment of mail I will, of course, have them fully investigated.
