Vol. 283 No. 7

Written Answer. - Enniscorthy Water Scheme.

212.

asked the Minister for Local Government if, in view of the grave possibility of an immediate closedown of the work and the serious consequences that would ensue, he will provide sufficient capital funds at once to Enniscorthy Urban Council to enable the council to pay the contractor for work already completed and for the continuation of its major water scheme.

It appears that, in this case, the work has gone ahead far more quickly than could be anticipated when the capital allocation was made.

In view of this and other special circumstances, I have arranged for the issue from the Local Loans Fund of an additional amount to meet current liabilities and for discussions with the manager as to what further measures are necessary for the financing of the scheme in the current year.
