Vol. 284 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Farm Buildings Valuations.

35.

asked the Minister for Finance if he approves of applying valuations to farm buildings which cause rates to be levied on them.

I am advised by the Commissioner of Valuation that valuations are not increased due to the erection or improvement of farm buildings.

Is the Minister aware of a statement which appeared in the papers recently—and members of farming organisations have expressed concern on this also—that valuations are being applied to new piggeries, to the extent of £20 per 10 pig unit?

I am not so aware. If the Deputy would be so good as to let me know his source, I would be only too glad to follow it up.
