Vol. 284 No. 5

Written Answers. - Payment for Estate.

116.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will arrange with the Land Commission for payment in respect of an estate in County Cork (details supplied); and if he will consider making the payment in cash.

Cavan): The purchase money of the property referred to was put to credit as from 16th May, 1974, the date of possession, and bears interest from that date. The Land Commission cannot, however, proceed to distribute the funds until rulings in regard to title have been complied with.

The law prescribes that lands acquired compulsorily, as in this case, must be paid for in land bonds and the Land Commission have no power to vary the medium of payment.
