Under Bord na Móna's third development programme, which has been approved by the Government, the board propose to increase their annual production of peat and briquettes as follows: Milled peat, 1.7 million tons; sod peat, 44,000 tons; moss peat, 600,000 bales; briquettes, 80,000 tons.
The Turf Development Bill, 1975, at present before the Oireachtas, makes provision for the necessary financial arrangements to enable the board to carry out this programme.
