asked the Minister for Justice the appointments he has made to the Adoption Board since March 1973; and the qualifications necessary for appointment.

Appointments to An Bord Uchtála are made by the Government. The following members were appointed since March, 1973: District Justice Agnes B. Cassidy (Chairman), Dr. Gerald Patrick Costello, Mr. James Costello, Mr. Augustine Kenny.

Dr. Costello resigned in October, 1974, and was replaced by Mr. Kenny.

Former District Justice John Farrell, who has been a member of the board since 1970, was appointed Deputy Chairman earlier this year.

It is prescribed by statute that the chairman or deputy chairman shall be or have been a judge of the Supreme Court, the High Court or the Circuit Court or a justice of the District Court, or shall be a barrister or solicitor of at least ten years' standing. No statutory qualifications are prescribed for ordinary members.
