The estimate of £1.75 million referred to involves £1.10 million in payments to field staff engaged in the actual enumeration, £0.45 million to headquarters staff for the subsequent processing and compilation of data and £0.20 million for other costs such as travelling expenses, publicity, hire of processing equipment and so on.
