asked the Taoiseach the number of firms operating a short working week at 30th September 1974 and at 30th September 1975; and the number of persons on short-time working on these dates.

The numbers of systematic short-time workers on the live register at local employment offices on 27th September, 1974 and 26th September, 1975 were 1,484 and 3,506 respectively. Corresponding information on the number of firms operating a short working week is not available.
