Vol. 285 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Bovine TB Dissemination.

7.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries if he is satisfied that TB is not being transmitted to Irish cattle herds by tuberculous badgers; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

While the role of badgers as carriers of bovine tuberculosis cannot be completely discounted, there is no evidence available to my Department which would suggest that these animals are a major factor in the dissemination of the disease in this country.
