Vol. 285 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Cork Estate.

41.

asked the Minister for Lands the plans for the future use of the Doneraile estate, County Cork.

(Cavan): My Department have been engaged in clarifying certain issues which affect the possible future use of the old residence on this estate. I am hopeful that a decision in regard to the house can be made shortly and this would clear the way for the development of the lands as a future forest and wildlife park.

Could the Minister indicate whether an application for the use of the house by an Irish-American cultural society is being sympathetically considered?

(Cavan): Yes. I think I know the society the Deputy has in mind and the application will be considered sympathetically.

No danger of another Doneraile conspiracy.

The Minister will want to be sure he will not get another curse of the Donerailes on him when the decision is made.

Sure, the last of the Donerailes died this week.

All the more danger a curse may follow.
