Vol. 285 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Kerry Factory.

27.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if the IDA will have a factory established in Cahirciveen, County Kerry that will give male employment to enable all the secondary school finishers to get employment in their local area, as at present they are compelled to look for employment outside the country.

I have been informed by the Industrial Development Authority that there is a four-acre site owned by the local authority in Cahirciveen available for industry and the authority are ready to support any suitable project proposed for location there by Irish or incoming industrialists.

The authority have also informed me that an existing industry in the town has a potential employment of about 20 further jobs in the next two years and that the new industry in nearby Valentia Island has a potential of 40 more jobs over the next three years.
