Vol. 285 No. 9

Written Answers. - Bord na Móna Superannuation Scheme.

223.

asked the Minister for Transport and Power if, in relation to the Bord na Móna Amending Superannuation Scheme referred to in a reply to Question 424 of 29th October, 1975, he will state the number of Bord na Móna employees who would be deprived of pension opportunities with no other opportunity to qualify for superannuation benefits if the scheme awaiting sanction in his Department is not approved with effect from 17th April, 1975.

On 31st October, 1975, I indicated to Bord na Móna that in respect of the amending scheme to the Turf Development Act, 1953 (Regular Works Employees) Superannuation Scheme I am prepared to agree to an operative date of 1st October, 1975. In the case of the amendment relating to employees over 55 years of age, however, who but for this new amending scheme now agreed would not receive any pension, I have indicated that I am prepared to agree to an operative date of 17th April, 1975.
