Vol. 285 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Hotel Management College.

14.

asked the Minister for Trasport and Power the action he proposes to take to ensure that the Shannon College of Hotel Management will remain in full operation and will continue to make its contribution to Irish tourism.

I am informed by Aer Rianta who are responsible for the Shannon College of Hotel Management that they have at present no plans for any change in the operation of the college.

Would the Minister accept that the college is performing a function of considerable value to the hotel and tourist industry?

Would the Minister agree that it is unfair that a contribution is not made by Bord Fáilte?

I do not think so. Aer Rianta have to suffer the loss of the college and they are happy to do that. Aer Rianta are happy that the college should remain and they are willing to subsidise it.
