Vol. 286 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Unemployment Benefit.

25.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare why unemployment benefit has not been paid to a person (details supplied) in County Offaly who appealed two months ago and has received no communication from his Department to date.

A claim for unemployment benefit made by the person concerned on 18th August, 1975 was disallowed by a deciding officer on the ground that the claimant was not available for employment. The claimant appealed against the decision but did not attend an appeal hearing arranged for 17th November, 1975, although duly notified by my Department of the date, time and place. The hearing has been relisted for a future date and the claimant will be notified accordingly.
