Vol. 286 No. 2

Written Answers. - Jam, Jelly and Marmalade Directive.

297.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if the proposed EEC directive concerning jam, jelly and marmalade will enable Irish products in this field to move freely throughout the Community and if he is satisfied that additional exports will be achieved on the adoption of the recommended directive.

The answer to the first part of the Deputy's question is "yes". As regards the second part, the establishment of Community rules designed to facilitate free movement of products should benefit Irish exporters of jams, jellies and marmalade.
