Vol. 286 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dublin Oil Refinery.

6.

asked the Minister for Local Government if a date has yet been set for the holding of the public hearing on the appeal against the decision of Dublin Corporation to refuse planning permission for the building of an oil refinery at Dublin; and, if so, the date set.

A date has not yet been fixed. My Department is in communication with the appellants' architects. An announcement will be made in due course.

Could the Minister give any indication when "in due course" will be? Will it be months or weeks?

I found it lying around in the Department—it had been there for several years—and I fixed a date in July last and there were immediate protests from those who had been making a great deal of noise about it seeking to defer the date as I was not giving them time, they said, to prepare their case. I deferred the date and I have now made it clear to all concerned when it will be. The appellents said they would not be able to go ahead immediately, as I was suggesting, and I would say now mid-January would appear to be a reasonable date.
