Vol. 286 No. 10

Written Answers. - Army Discharge.

255.

asked the Minister for Defence why a person (name supplied) in County Offaly who joined the Army nine weeks ago and was stationed in Athlone Barracks, was discharged recently without explanation; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Defence Force Regulations provide that when a recruit of the Permanent Defence Force is not finally approved for service he will thereupon be discharged with all convenient speed, the reason for discharge being "not having been finally approved". The person referred to in the question was discharged in accordance with this provision.
