Vol. 286 No. 12

Written Answers. - Prices Division Circular.

28.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce the manner in which it is proposed to implement the terms of Circular Number PR5/5/13 of 30th October, 1975, which issued from the Prices Division of his Department.

Under the Prices and Charges (Notification of Increases) Order, 1975, an importer or a wholesaler whose business had a turnover of more than £250,000 in its latest financial year may not increase the actual cash margin he takes on any commodity in which he deals, without giving two months advance notice to the Minister. The circular referred to by the Deputy was issued to approximately 2,000 firms as an initial step towards establishing a register of firms to whom the order applies. These firms will then be obliged to give the required notice of any proposed increase in their margins and will be supplied with the necessary application forms.
