Vol. 286 No. 12

Written Answers. - Teacher Employment.

36.

asked the Minister for Education the number of trained teachers for post-primary education who finished training in his Department's special course for 1975; and the number of those who have secured permanent employment.

The following are the numbers of trainees who in 1975 successfully completed courses of training organised by my Department which qualified them for appointment as teachers in post-primary schools as appropriate: Woodwork, 34; Educational Woodwork, 23; Woodwork and Building Construction, 9; Metalwork, 27; General and Rural Science, 15.

I have no reason to believe that the great majority, if not all, of these trainees have not already obtained permanent appointments. I am not however in a position to give precise details pending the submission of the required information by all school authorities.

Questions Nos. 37, 38 and 39 postponed.
