Vol. 286 No. 12

Written Answers. - Vocational Teachers' Pay.

41.

andMr. Tunney asked the Minister for Education if, in view of the increase of 37½ per cent in the remuneration of whole-time vocational teachers over the past 12 months, he will review the hourly rates of payment of part-time vocational teachers which remained static over the same period; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The rates of remuneration for part-time teachers employed under vocational education committees are at present under review in my Department and a decision in the matter will be conveyed to the committees as soon as possible. I should say that the general part-time rate was increased by 20 per cent—from £2.00 to £2.40 per hour—with effect as from 1st January, 1975.
