asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he has given further consideration to the advantages which would accrue to applicants for and recipients of social welfare benefits if his Department were decentralised on a county basis and all applications for benefits and assistance decided locally; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

In my reply of 8th April, 1975, to a question from the Deputy I pointed out that I was not aware of any advantages which would accrue to social welfare recipients if my Department should be decentralised on a county basis. Further consideration has not altered my position in this matter.
