Vol. 287 No. 1

Written Answers. - Grant-Aided Industry Jobs.

322.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce the number of new jobs created and actually filled in grant-aided industries in each of the years 1965 to 1975 inclusive.

I have been informed by the Industrial Development Authority that estimates prepared by the authority showing the number of new jobs created and filled in manufacturing industry are available only in respect of the period 1971 to 1974 inclusive. The figures for these years are as follows:—1971, 7,600; 1972, 16,900; 1973, 17,800; 1974, 16,200. The figures for 1975 are not yet finalised.

The above figures relate to the entire manufacturing sector. Separate figures for grant-aided industry are not available but the majority of new jobs occur in grant-aided industry.
